Charlie
Hildbold
I ran minor league sports front offices for 15 years, as a President, a GM and a VP of Sales. Then I went back to school for data analytics and started building the tools I always wanted.
Today I run Playsheet, front office software for minor league teams, and I build baseball models on the side. I live in the Pittsburgh area and I'm looking for my next role here.
Career
Every stop, oldest first, the way it would read on the back of a baseball card.
| Years | Club | Position | Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before 2009 | Pittsburgh Pirates, Pensacola Ice Pilots, Columbus Catfish, Odessa Roughnecks | Outbound sales up to Director of Marketing | Ticket sales, box office, marketing and promotions across baseball, hockey and indoor football. Game Operations of the Year 2008, 2009. |
| 2009–11 | Richmond Revolution | General Manager | Launched the club from nothing and turned a profit in year one. Sold 60% of the arena before the first game, then eight straight home sellouts. Franchise of the Year 2010. Media Relations of the Year 2010. |
| 2011–12 | Indoor Football League | Director of Team Services | Advised all 22 member teams on hiring, ticket sales and operations. Benchmarked every team's business structure and finances. |
| 2012 | Allen Wranglers | VP | Operations for the 2012 indoor football season. |
| 2012–18 | Texas Revolution | President | Ran the whole business for six seasons. 90% season ticket retention and revenue and attendance growth every year. Executive of the Year 2016. Franchise of the Year 2016. Game Operations of the Year 2016, 2017, 2018. |
| 2020 | Lancaster Barnstormers | VP of Sales | Doubled outbound sales volume in two months and set up the team's sales reporting. The role was cut when the pandemic shut down the season. |
| 2020–now | Uber | Driver | 25,549 trips and 158,940 miles, every one tracked. That data became the case study below. |
| 2025–now | Playsheet | Founder | Designed, built and launched front office software for minor league teams. Live at playsheet.tech. |
| Career | 9 organizations | President, GM, VP | 9 league awards |
Work
Things I've built. Each one is live or has the code public, so you can check it.
-
UVI
MLB analytics app, 2023 to 2026Public stats tell you what happened, but not when it happened. UVI weighs every pitch by the leverage of the moment: score, inning, runners, count. Then it rolls that up to one value for every hitter and pitcher, with leaderboards and player pages.
It updates every day from the MLB Stats API, and you can ask it questions in plain English.
- 2.5 million+pitches
- +0.769correlation with wOBA, hitters
- −0.807correlation with FIP, starters
-
Attendance forecast
Demand model, 2026Which home games will sell themselves and which ones need help. It's a fixed-effects regression on day of week, month, day or night, holidays, opening and closing nights and promotions, with each team's own adjustments pulled toward league norms so a small sample can't run wild. I tested it on a season it never saw.
I also measured which promotions really move attendance across nine clubs' schedules. Fireworks and education days do. A lot of others are noise.
- 38,000+minor league games, 2022 to 2026
- 28% to 17%typical forecast error, versus last year's average
-
Playsheet
Front office software, 2025 to nowEvery small front office I ran lived in spreadsheets, email and memory. Playsheet puts prospects, proposals, sponsorship inventory, ticket sales, the preseason checklist and the game day script in one place. Sponsors get a proposal link instead of a PDF, and the rep gets an email the minute they open it.
I designed it, built it and sell it. Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres on Supabase, Stripe billing.

What rideshare really pays
Earnings case study, 2026Three years of my own driving data from six exports and four platforms, and none of them agreed with each other. I reconciled them to answer one question: per hour of my time, what does this work actually pay?
- 415,000+records reconciled
- $41.61real pay per hour
- $95.00what the app says
- 40% to 44%Uber's cut, 2023 to 2026
-
MLB win total predictor
Predictive model, 2025A random forest on 19 offense and pitching features that forecasts how many games a team wins. Built in R and running as a Shiny app.
- 3.41wins average error
-
Aging curve
Regression study, 2025How players age, built with the weighted delta method so players who got benched or released don't skew the curve.
About
I've spent my career on the business side of pro sports. Ticket sales, sponsorships, game day, budgets, hiring. I've sat in the president's chair and I've worked the box office window.
The whole time I was the guy building the spreadsheets to figure out what was actually working. So in 2023 I went back to school for it, and I finished my master's in data analytics at Robert Morris in 2024 with a 4.0.
Now I put the two together. I know which report a GM actually opens on a Tuesday, and I can build it. I'm looking for a front office or analytics role in the Pittsburgh area.
